It’s that time of year again when I (along with lots of other business founders) reflect back on the year to see what worked (and what didn’t) to make the most of 2023 and get started with a bang. Firstly though, as cliché as it sounds, I did want to say thank you for your support, it means so much to me and the team that Wild Fawn has even a tiny space in people’s hearts and that people are genuinely interested in supporting smaller business with strong ethics and sustainability at its heart.

It’s been a challenging year for the whole retail industry, with the after effects of Brexit, covid and the cost of living crisis. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to be a brand our customers can trust which is so important when buying something as sentimental as jewellery. We’re advocates for transparency, which you’ll probably have seen on our instagram account where we share lots of behind the scenes videos of the jewellery making process and the studio.

This year I’ve loved having more of our customers over to the studio where we’ve been hosting ring making workshops. It’s so lovely to be able to show people where all of our jewellery is made and teaching people how to make their own rings has truly been such a wonderful experience.

2022 has been the year of engagement rings. We’ve had the pleasure of designing some of the most beautiful rings and we have lots of exciting new designs coming in the new year. Lots of our customers say they chose us because they love that they can come in and see where it’s made and know that we use ethical gemstones and gold. One of our aims for 2023 is to shout even louder about our sustainability and ethical credentials when it comes to our stones and metals so keep an eye our for that!

And some of the most magical news this year has probably been welcoming our first Wild Fawn baby to the team after our Ops manager, Sofia, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. We met her for the very first time at our team Christmas party last week and introduced her to all the tools. A new apprentice in the making!

I’m keeping this short because no doubt you will be busy eating lots of delicious food today but as a last note, I know a lot of you know we are a small independent team already but at our size, each order means so much. Even your patience with us throughout the postal strikes has just proved that you are all so amazing and supportive. I hope those of you that ordered for a gift got it in time for today despite the massive delivery delays and here’s to an amazing 2023 for all of us.

Happy Christmas from me and the rest of the Wild Fawn team! Rachel our powerhouse Silversmith who made all your orders, Rebecca our very talented Creative Manager, Jenn the sweetest and most organised Customer Care and Fulfilment Manager and Sofia our Ops Manager, not pictured here because she had someone far cuter than us to attend to.
