Self Isolation Inspiration

After a week of home working, while trying to keep the business and orders ticking over, the Wild Fawn team have come up with some tips to keep spirits up and inspiration flowing during this period of isolation.

  • Spring is in the air and it is right outside your windows. It may seem like a small thing but opening windows and breathing in fresh air can really help you reset if you are feeling cooped up.

  • Order some seeds, compost and some little pots online. By the time we go back to normal, you’ll have some beautiful seedlings that you’ll know will have grown nice and healthy. Founder, Emma has planted some tomato seeds that are perfect for hanging baskets which is space saving and handy to have by the back door! She got hers from here.

  • Show some love to that struggling houseplant, Google it to see what exactly it is and how to care for it. Caring for something always cheers us up!

  •  Take an online course - something you have always been interested in or something that will help you progress in your current job. A great website with lots of courses on is Coursera

  • Learn something new – whether it is finally setting up that sewing machine you bought and never had time to learn how to use, or knitting! Then make something for someone, that way you can get excited about giving it to them when you can see them again.

  • Take out those dusty paintbrushes and old acrylics and have some fun painting.

  • Finally read all those books you bought to fill your bookshelf!

  • Teach yourself the basics of a language (apps like Duolingo are great!) or watch some subtitled films in another language on Netflix to refresh that GCSE vocab! Then you can plan a detailed itinerary of a trip you can take in the future when we can start traveling again. It is always good to have something to look forward to!

  • There are so many new online exercise resources at the moment, set a time each day for you and your partner/housemate to work out so you can hold each other accountable. By the summer time, you’ll both be feeling great and you’ll have got into a good habit of exercising and hopefully continue the regime!

  • Reorganise your wardrobe! Try everything on and finally decide what you want to keep and what to donate to charity. Bag it all up and locate your nearest charity shop to drop off once it reopens.

  • Learn to have fun with cooking an unfamiliar cuisine, you would be surprised what essentials you might have in your cupboards.

  • Call your friends and family! Life sometimes gets in the way and keeping in touch with your loved ones can be difficult. Now however, is the perfect time to touch base! With most of her friends and family back in Ireland, Rebecca is finding she is talking to them now more than ever!

  • For families quarantined together, if you need something fun and which nurtures bonding - recreate baby photos!

  • Board games are a good way to forget about your mobile and have a little mental break from what’s happening. Go old school with scrabble or finally learn the rules of chess.

  • Create a community where you live, albeit from a distance – if you have extra food you don’t need why not leave it on your neighbours doorstep with a note. We are never alone, even if it feels like it!
