6 LGBTQ+ Charities to Support This Pride Month and Beyond

6 LGBTQ+ Charities to Support This Pride Month and Beyond

Here at Wild Fawn, we take pride in being LGBTQ+ allies. We were founded on the idea that no matter how you identify, we support and value all forms of love! We have put together a list of incredibly worthy charities which we hope you will consider making a donation to, not just this Pride month but into the future as well.

Mermaids

Supporting transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families since 1995, Mermaids began as a small group of concerned parents sharing experiences, finding answers and looking for ways to keep their children safe and happy. Today, Mermaids has evolved into one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charities, empowering thousands of people with its secure online communities, local community groups, helpline services, web resources, events and residential weekends. They seek to educate and inform wider society on gender identity by helping professionals accommodate and reassure gender-diverse young people.

Stonewall

Campaigning as part of a global movement since 1989, Stonewall has helped create transformative change in the lives of LGBTQ+ people across communities in the UK. They imagine a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be themselves and we can live our lives to the full, they have helped create transformative change for equal rights to love, to marry and have children, and the national curriculum in most of the UK. Stonewall makes sure the world hears and learns from LGBTQ+ communities, grounded in evidence and expertise, they're committed to empowering people to create change in their own communities.

MindOut

MindOut work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern. They recognise that communities are wonderfully diverse and welcome all LGBTQ+ people including those who identify as asexual, aromantic, pansexual, non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid and intersex. Their services are for people aged 18+ who are based in Brighton and Hove or globally through their Online Support service.

Hidayah

At Hidayah, their mission is to provide support and welfare for LGBTQI+ Muslims and promote social justice and education about the community to counter discrimination, prejudice and injustice. They hold meetups in cities across the UK which provide invaluable advice and guidance to members that require it. They also work with universities and companies to deliver educational workshops, talks and conferences to expand the visibility of LGBTQI+ Muslims.

Black Trans Alliance

The Black Trans Alliance is one of the newer charities, supporting Black trans and non-binary people in the UK through advocacy, education, and empowerment. Their Hardship Fund gives financial aid directly to people who need support for housing, utilities, food, and medication. The Black Trans Alliance emotionally and financially supports people who have been marginalised by society.

akt

akt supports lgbtq+ young people aged 16-25 in the uk who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. In June of 2022 Wild Fawn used to proceeds of our exclusive Pride collection sales to support this incredibly worthy cause.

We urge you to go and explore the hundreds of other charities in the UK and around the world supporting our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and wider communities. This Pride month 2023, like last year, we will be supporting LGBTQ+ causes which are close to our hearts, won't you join us? But support doesn't have to just be financial or through organisations, you can offer individual support on a community level with a kind word or help when you see someone in need.
